Peak FM and the University of Derby Chesterfield Campus are dedicating a final overall award to Imogen Ellis. Imogen accepted a Local Hero Award from us in 2017. She suffered from a rare form of bone cancer known as Ewings Sarcoma which led to intensive chemotherapy treatment and leg amputation. We were captured by the spirit and positive energy shown by Imogen through an extremely difficult time in her life. Unfortunately Imogen passed away in 2018 at the age of 17. Her parents have set up a charity in her name to help other youngsters with this condition and will join us this year as we remember and celebrate the life of their daughter. This award recognises an individual who has done or achieved something truly exceptional and deserves to be recognised with this most fitting and prestigious award.
