Allen insists he can change Chesterfield's fortunes

The pressure's mounting on the Spireites manager after yesterday's 2-0 loss to Grimsby.

Chesterfield manager Martin Allen says he won't be resigning-despite the club's dismal run of form.

The Spireites were beaten 2-0 at home yesterday by Grimsby Town in the second round of the FA Cup-which has left fans increasingly worried by their lack of wins this season.

Speaking after the game, Allen said "We played very well in the first half and had some good opportunities to go ahead. It's one of our better performances here this season, but we've come up short."

"We need to go and invest in this group of players to make them stronger. The squad are giving me everything, we just need that bit more quality."

They return to action on Saturday at the Proact Stadium against Salford City in the National League.
