Chesterfield defeated 2-0 at Maidenhead

It means the Spireites have finished 15th in the National League.

Chesterfield ended their National League campaign with a 2-0 loss at Maidenhead.

The visitors missed a number of opportunities in the first half, and were punished late on for their wastefulness.

On seventy minutes, Ayo Obileye put the hosts in front with an impressive finish.

Just eight minutes later, the Spireites deficit doubled when Adrian Clifton slotted past Jalal to make it 2-0.

Speaking afterwards, Manager John Sheridan said; "I don't want to be too hard on the players. I'm disappointed for the supporters more than anyone else."

"I'm looking forward to recruiting. I'm going to try and get the right players in to make us a strong outfit next season. It's a big job for me, but I'm confident I can do it."

"It's a disappointing end to the season, I don't like losing. We started the game brightly but we didn't take our chances."

The Spireites finished the season in 15th position.
