Coronavirus pandemic has put a 'huge strain' on Matlock Town FC

Tom Wright, who's the Chairman of the club, has been speaking to Peak FM about how difficult they're finding it to cover wages and other costs.

An urgent appeal has been set up online to help Matlock Town Football club, who're suffering financially due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They’re trying to raise fifteen thousand pounds on a 'Just Giving' page, in a bid to keep the club running smoothly.

Chairman Tom Wright admits it’s an uncertain time;

"The FA are working with the government to see if we can get this eighty percent, which we may be entitled to, but I don't know if that's going to happen or not.

"We just desperately need some money to make sure that we can afford to pay everything.

"We've got some creditors to pay as well, and we can't give them any money at the moment."

He's hopeful both supporters and the wider public can help them out;

"We've had a really good response so far, we're aiming to get around fifteen thousand pounds on this 'Just Giving' page.

"The nearer we get to this amount, the better really from our perspective, as it'll help us out with the running of the club in the immediate future."
