Maguire ruled out for up to two months

The 21 year old will undergo a knee operation next week.

Chesterfield boss Martin Allen's confirmed defender Laurence Maguire will be out of action for between six and eight weeks.

The 21 year old picked up a knee injury in Sunday's FA Cup defeat against Grimsby Town.

He's due to have an operation on it next week.

Spireites manager Allen says he'll be missed; "It's a massive loss. He's grown in confidence and stature throughout the season. He's shown leadership qualities, he's a really good player and a really good person."

Meanwhile, Chesterfield return to action against high-flying Salford City in the National League tomorrow.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Allen said "We're playing against a very good team. They've got some dangerous centre-forward's and good players throughout their team. We need to match up to them, and when our chances come, they've got to be put away."

A win for Chesterfield could take them out of the relegation zone, whilst second-placed Salford will be hoping to go top of the table with three points.
