Midfielder Charlie Carter leaves Spireites to join league two side

Chesterfield FC have confirmed midfielder Charlie Carter has left the club to join league two side Stevenage.

A statement on Chesterfield FC's official webiste said: "Charlie Carter has today left Chesterfield to join Stevenage after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the midfielder.

"The 22-year-old, who joined the Spireites from Woking last summer, scored four goals in 20 National League appearances last season."

Carter was signed by former manager Martin Allen, and immediately impressed fans by scoring twice in his first home league game for the Spireites against Aldershot.

However his season was hampered by several injuries, which kept him out of action for a number of months. He did make a return to action under John Sheridan, with goals against Barnet and Braintree.
