New Chesterfield signing Liam Mandeville has told Peak FM he firmly believes Chesterfield can achieve promotion from the national league this coming season.
The 22-year-old signed last week at the Proact, following his release from Doncaster Rovers.
We asked Mandeville his thoughts on dropping into non-league football: "You have to back yourself I think so I'm backing myself to do well and I'm backing the team to get promoted and I think it's the sort of team that once promoted, could get promoted again."
Mandeville will have competition for places in the Spireites' forward line though, with Scott Boden and Tom Denton striking up a good partnership towards the back end of the season.
He said: "I think that's what you need in a team, especially a team going for promotion. You need the squad to be as strong as possible, you need competition for places because that keeps you at your sharpest, I think."
"I haven't come here just to sit in the national league, I want to bounce back into the football league as soon as possible."
