Laurence Maguire was sent off on the hour mark for the Spireites.
Three games into their National League season and Chesterfield are still yet to pick up a victory.
In an eventful game, the Spireites came from behind to draw 2-2 at Boreham Wood.
The visitors were behind early on after conceding an early penalty, which Kabongo Tshimanga tucked away.
However, John Sheridan's men managed to reverse the scoreline before the interval thanks to efforts by Scott Boden and Jonathan Smith.
In the second half, the momentum shifted back in the home side's favour when Tshimanga scored his second of the afternoon, just prior to Laurence Maguire receiving a red card for a challenge on Kieran Murtagh.
The away side managed to stand firm though and secured their second consecutive draw.
Speaking to Spireites Digital afterwards, Assistant Manager Glynn Snodin said he's confident his side will start winning games soon;
"It's nice to get points on the board, but it's also nice to get that first win on the board as well.
"Hopefully that will come soon, we're not going to panic at the moment.
"It's going to be a tough league, it's going to be way closer than it was last year.
Chesterfield have taken two points from a possible nine so far and are currently twenty-first in the fifth tier of English football.
