A man from Wingerworth is currently half-way through a mammoth charity challenge, which sees him running from one corner of America to the other.
On 29 April 2018 Eric Keeler began his run from one corner of the United States to the other, making the trip entirely by foot.
He started in Lubec, Maine on the Canadian border, and is travelling through 15 states and 11 major cities along the way, before finishing at the Mexican border at San Diego, California in early December 2018.
In total, the trip will take an estimated 210 days, with an estimated 4,200 miles covered.
Before setting off for the 2nd leg of his journey, Eric told Peak FM: "I don't want to fail at it, I want to get to the end. Even when I was only a month in and I had seven or eight months left to go.
"I wasn't going to waste that month of my life and just give up now It's just about mentally knowing that I'm going to get to the end."
Speaking about the preparation ahead of the trip, Eric says he didn't focus too much on physical conditioning, despite the magnitude of the trip: "I don't tend to like training, I don't tend to like running that much. I just like doing things that I can't do very well, so I didn't really train.
In my head, It was more of 'I'll do the first day and that'll be training for the second day, then for the second I'll be training for the third."
