Block of flats proposed for Alfreton

Plans have been submitted for land near the Train Station.

Plans have been submitted to Amber Valley Borough Council to build a block of flats in Alfreton

24 apartments in total would be split into two three storey building, on land currently housing the derelict Kitchen and Bathroom showroom.

The land, on the corner of Mansfield Road and Salcombe Road, is opposite the Train Station, as well as a housing estate currently being built.

Alfreton town Councils Chair of Planning, David Taylor, can see the benefits of the build, but has reservations;

"Generally there is a need for more affordable housing in the area. This could benefit single couples and new families.

"They (AVBC) also need to look at consultation with local residents.

"The proposed development is on a fairly busy road, with a large housing development in mid construction.

"Traffic, access and congestion will need to be discussed".

The Borough Council will make a decision on the plans over the next few months.
