Businesses in Chesterfield urged to 'give an hour' of their time to local schools

The Careers Enterprise Company are pushing the initiative.

Firms in Chesterfield are being encouraged to visit local schools in a bid to inspire the next generation.

The Careers Enterprise Company are behind the 'Give an hour' campaign.

Enterprise Co-ordinator there Gail Widerman thinks it can be beneficial for both businesses and pupils; "If firms can give just an hour of their time to students and schools, it does have a massive impact on helping young people make decision's about the world of work and their next steps in education."

"When pupils are young, they aren't going to understand a variety of job roles that one small company might be able to offer, and this is an opportunity to go in and show them."

"Also, if you're looking to recruit young people into your business, this is a way of engaging them at a very early stage."
