Chesterfield man to take on mammoth cycling challenge for Royal British Legion

A Chesterfield man who's no stranger to raising cash for charity has announced his next challenge

Mark Jones is now preparing for a four day bike ride from London all the way to Paris- in aid of the Royal British Legion

He previously supported his son Dan in completing a 100 mile marathon across a frozen lake in Mongolia for Children In Need.

He told Peak FM he's seen first hand how tough it can be for former soldiers to adapt when leaving the military.: "I made the transition really easily but I know people who don't. I know people who struggle every single day.

"They need help. They don't need a scowl in the street as you walk by. Some of the things they've done to enable us to sit here and chat in safety is beyond comprehension."

The ride itself starts in Eltham Palace, London on 3 Sep 2020, before completing the challenge by riding down Champs-Élysées under the Arc de Triomphe on 7 Sep 2020.
