Hasland Hall Community School was closed again yesterday.
Toby Perkins says he is eager to talk to the Trade Union involved in recent strike action at Hasland Hall Community School.
A third day of industrial action this year was carried out by NASUWT yesterday.
It follows two days of disruption in July, in a dispute over workloads and pupil indiscipline.
The Labour MP told Peak FM he is keen to ensure the pupils' education isn't disrupted again;
"It is in everyones interest that the school not only finishes industrial action, but that there is real confidence from parents, pupils and teachers that the leadership of the school have a grip on discipline, and there is a high quality of education.
"There needs to be a redoubling of urgency around getting to the bottom of the unions demands".
We approached the school for comment, but were told no-one was willing to speak to us, however in a statement they say;
"We were disappointed, therefore, to receive notification of a further day of intended strike action on Tuesday 22 October 2019.
"We intend to continue discussions with the NASUWT to understand what outcomes they are seeking by continuing the action at this stage. We are obviously very concerned that the NASUWT feel that we are unable to resolve the dispute at this point and that our students’ education has to be disrupted again.
"I would like to reassure you that we will continue to do all we can to avoid the strike action. We will also continue to work together with all staff and parents to provide the best education for the young people in our care".
Parents on the picket line accused the schools senior ;leadership team of refusing to face up to issues, and claim there have been multiple student injuries and police presence at the school.
Other concerns include levels of staffing. In a letter to parents in September, Headteacher Miss Moore claimed the school was 'fully staffed' however Peak FM understands there are currently six vacancies at the school, with teaching vacancies listed on the schools own website.
