Chesterfield MP warns Chesterfield motorists over parking at Ravenside Retail Park

Motorists parking at Ravenside Retail Park are being told to make sure they're only using it when visiting shops on the site.

Chesterfield's MP says he's been in touch with the site operator to clarify the rules, after a number of people thought they were being ticketed unfairly.

Toby Perkins recently met with UKCPS Ltd, the company that manages the car park at Ravenside Retail Park. Ravenside Retail Park Car Park is for customers of Debenhams, HobbyCraft, Asda Living, Currys, PC World, Next, Pets at Home, Carphone Warehouse and Pizza Hut.

Toby said: “I have had many people contact me after receiving a parking ticket at the car park at Ravenside Retail Park. The vast majority of these have been issued as a result of parking at Ravenside Retail Park but then leaving the site.

"When I was meeting with UKCPS, I was shown the signs that they have placed at the pedestrian exits to the car park to warn that people should not leave the site and several people left their cars and walked off the site. They may be receiving parking tickets in the near future.

"I want to raise awareness in Chesterfield that this car park is only for those using Ravenside Retail Park to ensure that people are not inadvertently breaking the conditions of parking and receiving parking fines”

"The rules for the car park state that vehicles may park for a maximum of 3 hours, the driver of the vehicle must remain on the site throughout the period of parking, vehicles must be parked  within a single marked bay, vehicles parked in Parent and Child Bays must be accompanied by a child under 12 years of age and vehicles parked in disabled bays need to be clearly displaying a Blue Badge.

"If you feel that you have been given a Parking Ticket incorrectly there is appeals process through the issuing company. If you do not agree with their decision you can take it to the independent appeals service, POPLA. However, you will need to evidence that you have not broken the rules of the car park rather than disagreeing with the rule."
