Chesterfield residents are invited to get together for a day of fun at the Winding Wheel Theatre this month.
The venue will open its doors on Monday 24 February for two special events aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of local people.
From 10am to 12pm, over 55s from across the borough are invited to the ‘Great Chesterfield Get 2gether’ – an event where there will be over 50 stalls showcasing the excellent groups and services in Chesterfield, allowing residents to find out about what is on in the local area, join new groups and make new friends.
The event is free to attend, and complementary refreshments will be provided.
Councillor Jill Mannion-Brunt, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “At the council, it’s our priority to make Chesterfield a thriving borough and improve the quality of life for local people, so we hope that by hosting events such as these, we can encourage more people to get together and have some fun.”
Later that day, you are also invited to enjoy an afternoon of music and comedy as vocalist Bruce Anderson and pianist and comedian, Colin ‘Fingers’ Henry take to the stage for an afternoon of entertainment. This event is open to all residents and tickets, which are available from Chesterfield Theatres Box Office or by calling 01246 345222, are priced at £5.50.
Councillor Kate Sarvent, cabinet member for town centres and visitor economy, said: “Events like these are a great way to find out more about what else is happening across the borough and we hope that you’ll be able to come along and join us. It is also a great opportunity for local people to take a look inside the Winding Wheel Theatre, a venue that has been present in Chesterfield for more than 90 years.”
