Council says it is taking 'zero tolerance policy' on businesses refusing to follow government advice

North East Derbyshire Council have issued a statement following reports of some pubs and cafes remaining open despite the government ordering them not to.

It follows reports from the Safer neighbourhood policing team in Clay Cross which discovered a pub which "leaving the back door open for regulars to get in."

North East Derbyshire District Council says it will prosecute those flouting the rules if necessary: "Acting on the Government advice & concerns of our residents, we would like to reassure you that we have a zero tolerance policy on businesses flouting the advice to close their premises.

"We will prosecute if necessary to ensure the safety of all & help slow the spread of COVID-19."
