Derby University looking to increase its presence in Chesterfield

The number of subjects taught in the town could be about to increase.

The University of Derby look set to increase the amount of subjects it teaches in Chesterfield.

Staff are hoping to provide a workforce for the town's emerging industrial and engineering sector.

Associate Pro-Vice chancellor for External affairs Julie Stone says it's vital they work with local businesses; "Our success is down to the students success. Therefore, linking them with local firms is a very smart thing to do."

"We've got to make sure we're meeting the needs of the region and the economy. We're constantly looking at how we can support businesses with their existing workforce."
