Derbyshire's Police and Crime Commissioner calls on the public to respect shop workers

He's been speaking about the matter to Peak FM.

Derbyshire's Police and Crime Commissioner has condemned the reported abuse suffered by shop workers during Covid-19.

Hardyal Dhindsa says they should be treated with respect and civility.

He has this message to anyone being abusive to key workers and front line staff;

"Dont do it. Think before you act. Shop workers are trying to provide a vital service, and also advise you on how to stay safe.

"If you do abuse employees, you will be reported and the police will take action."

He went on to add that key workers must be treated with respect;

"They're working on the front line, trying to provide the public with good and essential items.

"They've risked their lives in order to do this throughout the pandemic."
