Residents in Eckington will have the chance to raise their concerns surrounding Fracking by speaking to the company proposing to explore for Shale Gas in the region.
INEOS Shale, has announced it is to hold a community exhibition at Green Lawns Community Centre, Marsh Lane, Derbyshire on Tuesday 31st January between 2pm – 8pm.
The event will provide an opportunity for local communities to meet with the management team to discuss the company’s plans before submitting its planning application.
The company say the meeting 'builds on INEOS’ commitment to an effective, transparent and on-going interaction with those that live and work close to its activities.'
Tom Pickering, INEOS Shale Operations Director says: “This is the first of a number of events open to the whole community. We have previously held meetings with parish councillors, which proved very successful. The exhibition is an opportunity for residents to meet with us to discuss our plans in the area and address any concerns they may have, before we submit any planning application.”
The exhibition will be held on the back of a recent meeting at Eckington Parish Council where councillors voted overwhelmingly against fracking in the area.
Also, North East Derbyshire District Council's ruling labour party and the region's MP Natascha Engel have all spoken in opposition of the proposal.
