A rapist has been handed a six-and-a-half year jail term after admitting two counts at Derby Crown Court.

John Thompson, from Abbot Road in Ilkeston, admitted two counts of raping a woman and one count of making a threat to kill her.

The rapes took place at a house in Ilkeston last July while the threat was made in December.

The 54-year old man was told he will serve a further four years on license once his sentence has come to an end and order to sign the sexual offenders register indefinitely.

Thompson was sentenced at Derby Crown Court on Friday 15th July.
