A Junior Doctor from nearby Sheffield, who's been working throughout the Covid-19 pandemic in London has told Peak FM she's currently self-isolating after developing coronavirus symptoms six days back.
28-year-old Inga Chen is calling for better personal protective equipment as a matter of urgency: "As a junior doctor, what concerns me is that many NHS workers are developing symptoms of the virus themselves.
"I've spoken to numerous colleagues who over the past week have also had to self-isolate at home and this putting extreme pressure on the staff left at work.
"Everyday that my colleagues are on the frontline without adequate personal protection, in the form of gloves, masks, gowns and eye protection is another day that they risk being exposed to the virus.
"Trusts are having to ration what you can have so they're saying you've only got one mask for the whole day. If you throw it in the bin then you won't have a mask because we don't have enough. This is so dangerous and I think it's definitely contributing to the fact that lots of our NHS staff are off ill at the moment and it is only going to get worse.
The government has recently deployed more than 450 military personnel to deliver protective equipment to 240 NHS locations in England.
