Man denies manslaughter after death of a pensioner in Grassmoor

A 30-year-old man has appeared in court to deny to manslaughter following the death of a pensioner outside a pub.

Colin Bailey pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter of Stuart Bowdler via video link at Nottingham Crown Court today.

Police say that Mr Bowdler, 74, had been driving in North Winfield Road in Grassmoor when he was involved in a minor collision with a motorbike outside the Boot and Shoe Inn.

An altercation is alleged to have then taken place between Mr Bowdler and the motorcyclist, following which the pensioner collapsed and was later pronounced dead.

Bailey, of Clay Cross, was arrested after the incident on the evening of April 18 and was later charged with manslaughter.

At the time of his charge Detective Inspector Gemma Booth, who is leading the investigation, thanked members of the public who contacted police with information.
