Man jailed after attacking neighbour with metal weightlifting bar

A Chesterfield man has been jailed after attacking his neighbour with a metal weightlifting bar.

James Nash, of Tapton View Road in Newbold also punched a policeman in the face when officers arrived following the attack.

He pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting an emergency worker.

The 34-year-old was sentenced earlier this month to a year behind bars at Derby Crown Court.

The court also heard Nash has a string of previous convictions which go back 20 years.
