Man jailed for burglary and theft in Shirebrook

A man has been jailed for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to breaking in to a home and stealing from a supermarket in Shirebrook.

Ian Thomas (32) of Patchwork Road, Shirebrook carried out both offences on the same day, Saturday, January 5.

He broke in to a home on Sookholme Road in Shirebrook, and had stolen goods from the Aldi store, on Carter Lane, earlier the same day.

Mr Thomas appeared at Derby Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday, February 12 where he was jailed for 12 months for burglary and two months for theft, to be served concurrently, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £140.
