Man jailed for causing death by dangerous driving in Eckington

A man has been jailed for three years for causing death by dangerous driving following an incident in Eckington last year 

Derby Crown Court heard how Derek Talbot-Smith was estimated to be travelling between 48 and 51 miles per hour in a 30 zone before his van collided with 61-year-old Dorothy Wild.

On top of the jail sentence, the 50 year old from Sheffield, and formerly of of Stormont Grove, Inkersall, Chesterfield will also be banned from driving for four years when he's released from prison.

It happened on the A6135 Sheffield Road, in Eckington.

Mrs Wild was pronounced dead at the scene following the incident.
