Man jailed for robbing a wallet in Chesterfield

A robber has been jailed for two and a half years for pushing a man to the floor and stealing his wallet in Newbold, Chesterfield.

Nathan Peter Cahill (24) of Green Street, Old Whittington (pictured above), pleaded guilty to robbery at a hearing at Derby Crown Court.

Just after 12 noon on Wednesday 22 January a 41 year old man had been walking along Racecourse Road when a man approached him from behind, pushed him to the floor and punched him in the eye.

He then stole the man’s wallet and ran off.

Following enquiries by officers Mr Cahill was arrested on Saturday 25 January, and was later charged with robbery.

He was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £181 at the hearing on Monday 24 February.
