Matlock Town FC to host a free Christmas Day dinner for isolated residents in the town

Food, drink and entertainment will be available in the Shorts Lounge.

For the second year running, Matlock Town Football Club will be hosting a free Christmas day dinner for isolated people in the town.

It'll take place in the Shorts Lounge there, with a three course meal, coffee and mince pies on offer.

Vice Chairman Bryn Apperley is behind the initiative.

He says there will also be a variety of entertainment;

"This year we've got a DJ coming down. He and his wife are coming over on Christmas Day.

"We've got a couple of young ladies, who're singing for us as well, so that should help the day go along smoothly.

"We start around about 12pm, and usually finish at 4pm."

Mr Apperley also told us the club are striving to improve, in terms of offering elderly and lonely people in the town a place to go in future;

"As a club we realise we haven't been that involved in the community.

"All the facilities we've got are accessible, including the toilets and entrance.

"We realise there's a lot we can do for the community, with the community.

"It is in its infancy, but we are moving forward."

Free transport is available to the football club if required.

If you wish to enquire about attending the event, then you can contact Bryn Apperley on 07795377893.
