Mothercare confirms UK business on brink of collapse

The retailer is poised to enter administration.

Mothercare's placing its British operation into administration.

It puts the company's two-and-a-half thousand UK-based jobs at risk if a buyer can't be found.

In the last financial year, the brand generated profits of 28 million pounds internationally - but lost over 36 million pounds in the UK.

The children's retailer has 79 stores across the country, including nearby in both Sheffield and Derby.
