Nearly six thousand parents in Derbyshire punished for taking their kids away in term time

Taking your child on holiday during school term time can result in a £120 fine.

More than five and a half thousand parents in Derbyshire were fined for taking their kids on holiday during term time in the last year.

Currently, taking your children out of school for a holiday without permission can land you a fine of 120 pounds per child.

The Department for Education who released the figures say no child should be taken out of school without good reason.
