New mental health group forms exclusively for women in Chesterfield

'FemTalk' will hold their first open meeting on Thursday 3rd October.

A new mental health organisation in Chesterfield has formed in a bid to encourage more women to talk about their emotional struggles.

'FemTalk' has been established following the success of a similar group for males in North Derbyshire, known as 'MenTalk'.

Rebecca Tustin's one of the organisers;

"Even if people don't want to speak, they're able to just come and listen.

"When 'MenTalk' first started, a lot of people didn't feel confident enough to share their experiences, but they just sat and listened to what other people had to say, and that's what it's all about."

The first group discussion takes place at the Proact Stadium in early October, and Cath Jones, who's also behind the initiative, hopes it'll be well attended;

"Chesterfield FC have been kind enough to let us use the 'Ernie Moss' room.

"It'll be going ahead from 7-9pm on the first Thursday of every month.

"It's a case of literally turning up as and when you want."
