New neighbourhood Watch schemes to launch in Bakewell

Residents in Bakewell are being invited to find out how they can get involved in making the town an even safer place as part of a Neighbourhood Watch event next week.

It is as two new Neighbourhood Watch schemes launch in the town and to offer other community members a chance to find out more about the initiative.

There will also be a chance to meet with officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood team.

The event will take place from 7pm on Friday, June 14 at Bakewell Town Hall.

Joye Dobbs, Project and Development Officer for Chesterfield and District Neighbourhood Watch, said: "We have recently launched two new Neighbourhood Watch schemes in Bakewell, on Upper Yeld Road and Monyash Road and some excellent work is already being done by our existing members but we always welcome new members.

“These new watches were set up following a number of recruitment mornings at the town hall but we have seen some demand for an evening event due to the fact that some people are normally working and cannot attend the morning events.”

Joye added: "Neighbourhood Watch brings people together as well as helping to keep crime and anti-social behaviour down in our communities. People of all ages are welcome to join so please come and see us to find out more about how you can get involved."
