New online community set up to provide mental health support for Chesterfield women

A new social media group has been set up in our area to co-incide with mental health awareness week

The group known as Broken Beauty aims to provide support for women in North Derbyshire struggling with stress, anxiety or depression.

It's run entirely by volunteers, and one of them Hayley Newman says she wants to help those affected by the current restrictions: "The lockdown has had a significant impact on mental health. Whilst there has been so many people struggling with the isolation and separation of loved ones and hightened anxiety, there is also the other side from the key workers who have been working extended hours and overtime.

"Now, more than ever, with the significant rise in numbers of people who are struggling with their mental health, especially in the current situation living in lockdown and isolation, the more support available can only be a good thing.

"We can be found on Facebook via the Broken Beauty page, and anyone can get in touch via Facebook messenger. We offer a completely confidential messaging service or you can join the online group, Broken Beauty chatroom which is a platform to connect with others, talk, listen and share any issues that are affecting you. We also hope to start some meetings within the community once the lockdown restrictions allow."
