Officers investigate serious assault in Buxton

Derbyshire Police have launched an investigation into a serious assault in Buxton that has left one man with serious injuries.

Officers were called at around 3.20pm yesterday (Sunday 24th July) to Spring Gardens where a 52-year old man was being treated by paramedics. He had allegedly been assaulted on Concert Place before being attacked again on the Market Place.

He suffered serious arm injuries and was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport where he underwent surgery.

Police have arrested a 35-year old local man, who is said to be known to the victim, and he remains in Police custody.

An appeal has now been launched to try and trace any witnesses or anyone who has information about the alleged attack. They are being urged to contact Detective Constable Paul Flint on 101, quoting reference number 16000206643.
