Police name 34-year-old victim of fatal Derbyshire collision

A 34-year-old man from Ashbourne tragically died following a collision at the junction of Heage Road and Radbourne Lane.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "Officers were called at 5.50am yesterday morning (Nov 14) to reports of a serious collision at the junction of Heage Lane and Radbourne Lane, Etwall.  Derbyshire police, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service all attended the incident.

"Tragically, 34-year-old Stuart Simmonds, from Ashbourne, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time."

A number of roads were closed as specialist officers undertook investigative work into the crash.

Those officers are now keen to speak to the driver of a car that was seen at the cross roads immediately prior to the incident. Anyone who may have been in the area at the time should contact the force using one of the below methods as a matter of urgency.
