Police officer left injured following Peak District pursuit

It took place late last week.

A Police officer has sustained minor injuries after a quad bike and a hammer were thrown at a force vehicle in the Peak District on Friday.

It all happened on Friday evening at around 5.40pm when Derbyshire Police were alerted to a burglary in Brassington.

Shortly after, an officer began pursuing a van being driven by the suspects through Grindleford, when a quad bike was chucked out of the back of it on a road near Longshaw.

As the pursuit continued, a lump hammer was then aimed at the police by the culprits, which resulted in the officers' windscreen getting smashed.

This left the Policeman involved with minor injuries due to glass fragments.

The van was later found abandoned, with no arrests made so far.
