100 further weapons are to be given to front line officers this year.
Derbyshire police are going to give 100 extra tasers to it's front line officers in the coming year.
The weapons are used to incapacitate dangerous offenders with a 50,000 volt shock.
The chairman of the county's police federation Tony Wetton doesn't believe it's an excessive use of force.
He told Peak FM "It seems ironic because it looks like a firearm-but it's regarded by Police as a really low level use of force."
"It's instantaneous, once the current's withdrawn, the person's under control and there's no lasting effect."
