Mountain Rescue Crews have confirmed a climber died earlier this week after falling from cliffs in the Peak District.
The team based at Edale were called by East Midlands Ambulance to attend the scene in Stoney Middleton on Monday evening.
Rescuers said despite their efforts, the casualty could not be saved due to the severity of their injuries.
An update on the Eadale Mountain Rescue Team website said: "The team were called by East Midlands Ambulance Service to attend Stoney Middleton where a climber had taken a long fall.
"Despite the efforts of his friends, mountain rescue team personnel and ambulance service members attending, the casualty could not be saved due to the severity of their injuries. The casualty was recovered back to the roadside.
"Our thoughts are with the casualties family and friends at this tragic time."
