Shirebrook man charged with assaulting a police officer and other offences

Police say they've charged a man with various offences, including assaulting a police officer following an incident which took place in the town on Monday.

Ian Thomas, of Patchwork Row, Shirebrook, has appeared at Northern Derbyshire Magistrates Court, Chesterfield this morning (January 8) charged with various offences.

The 31-year-old was arrested and charged on Monday, January 7 for a theft from Aldi, Carter Lane, Shirebrook.

He was also charged with the possession of a controlled substance, burglary, theft of a bicycle, a Public Order offence and the assault of a police officer.

He was remanded in custody until January 15, when a plea hearing will take place.
