Staff at Chesterfield Royal Hospital to take on Soapbox race in their very own ambulance

A group of maintenance staff at Chesterfield Royal Hospital are taking on a death defying soapbox race, and it's all to raise money for the children's ward.

Casey Handby and his team could reach speeds of up to 50 mph on the downhill Soapbox challenge at Harewood House near Leeds.

He says they've already smashed their fundraising target: "We had a basic idea that we were going to do a soapbox for a bit of a laugh, but then we came up with doing it for charity as well. We just thought it would be a bit of fun, and set a little bit of a target to reach money-wise, but it has gone through the roof.

"We saw the advert for the Harewood house soapbox challenge and we thought it would just be like a Red Bull soapbox race. It's not!

"It's a massive hill climbing track where cars reach up to 50 miles per hour. I don't know whether ours will, but we're going to have a good time doing it!"
