A group of local students based at Highfields school in Matlock have today marched through the town in protest against climate change
Several climate protests took place across towns and cities in the UK, with youngsters putting pressure on the government to come up with immediate solutions to combat the threat of global warming and protect the environment.
Ella Lemon, who helped organise the march in Matlock said: Obviously the planet is dying and if we don't have a planet to like in then where are we going to go? Our children and grandchildren need our help to save the planet."
George Davidson said: "I think the government's austerity regarding climate change needs to end and we as the youth have a far more powerful voice than we realise. If we band together we can make a difference.
"It's comforting to know that everyone's standing together at this time, which is a crisis, I believe."
