Michelle Vickers, from Hasland welcomes Government plans to crack down on hospital waiting lists after her mum had to wait 18 months for a life saving operation.
News that the Government is cracking down on hospital waiting lists in England has been welcomed by a woman in Chesterfield.
Michelle Vickers knows what it's like to be on those long lists when her mum Maria Murphy had to wait 18 months for her operation.
Maria, 47, could have died at any moment after a stroke left her with a brain aneurysm.
Her life saving operation was put on hold six times but she eventually got it in October, following a fight from her family.
She was told by the surgeon she only had a week left until the aneurysm would have burst, possibly killing her.
After the stress her mother and family have gone through Maria's daughter Michelle is delighted that hospitals could be fined if they don't clear patient backlogs.
