She has become one of Britain’s 20 richest pop stars after earning £40million in a year.

Her fortune rose to £125million, making her the youngest act in a list dominated by ageing rockers such as Sir Mick Jagger and Sir Elton John.

Adele, 29 tomorrow, saw her wealth soar thanks to the success of her third album 25.

She is also in the middle of a sell-out world tour performing 122 shows to 1.5million fans.

It will include four nights at Wembley Stadium this summer.

The Sunday Times Rich List, to be published on Sunday, puts the Hello singer at joint 19th with Queen’s Brian May in the list of top-earning pop stars.

But her assets are dwarfed by Sir Paul McCartney, 74, at the top of the list with £780million.

Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s £740million and U2’s £548million place them second and third. Sir Elton is in fourth with a wealth of £290million.

Other acts on the list include Sir Mick and fellow Rolling Stone Keith Richards.

Sting, Eric Clapton, Sir Tom Jones and Sir Rod Stewart also appear.

List compiler Robert Watts said wealthier fans of older acts were more prepared to stump up for costlier tickets than younger fans of newer acts.

He said: “It seems rock music, be it performing or watching, is no longer just for the young.”
