Brit Awards: Pink to be honoured

The American singer will be the first international recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Contribution To Music award

Pink’s win means she will have achieved what even legends including Madonna, Tina Turner and Bruce Springsteen have failed to do.

She’s also the first ever female solo artist to scoop the gong.

Pink, who was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in Los Angeles on Tuesday, will fly in for the ceremony on February 20.

And while she’s here, she will deliver a show-stopping performance at the bash at London’s O2 Arena.

A Brits insider said: “Pink has had a truly incredible career and she hasn’t performed at the Brits in more than 15 years so it’s a massive coup that she is flying in for the occasion.  When we told her we would be giving her the award, she was over the moon and agreed to sing at the ceremony.”

It’s good timing for the singer, who is due to release new single Walk Me Home in the next fortnight — the first   from her eighth album Hurts To Be Human, which is out in April.

Then in June she will be back on British soil with her Beautiful Trauma world tour.

Speaking about her achievement, Pink said: “I am so honoured to be recognised with the Outstanding Contribution To Music award at the Brits.  Since the start of my career, British fans have been some of the most fierce and loyal in the world. I am humbled to receive this honour.”
