Lily Allen: I've only been sexually assaulted by white males

Lily Allen has claimed she has "only ever been sexually assaulted by white males", during a row with the co-founder of the English Defence League.

The 31-year-old singer's spat with Tommy Robinson began when she shared a post on Twitter criticising the use of the word "migrant" in an article about the Turkish nightclub attack.

"Don't know his name or nationality but call him a migrant in the headline," the singer wrote, followed by "#racism".

Robinson said that Allen was "virtue signalling" by speaking out about racism, and said that she does not care "about the dead people".

"Don't see you mourning too much for the innocent in Aleppo Tommy," she replied.

Tommy Robinson, real name Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, is the co-founder and former spokesman and leader of the English Defence League.

In the spat that continued through Monday, Robinson accused Allen of living in an "ivory tower", and said she wasn't "even prepared to hear why working class people are angry and scared".

He also asked the singer if she had "ever met or spoken to a victim of the Muslim grooming gangs", to which she responded: "I've only ever been sexually assaulted by white males so I feel slightly biased".

The discussion led to other Twitter users taking sides and commenting.

"You know what, the police should just lock up all white males as it seems we do everything evil in this world," one user wrote.

"That's a bit strong, but restricting their movement on a global scale could be a good idea," Allen replied.

The row comes three months after Allen was criticised for apologising on behalf of the UK during her visit to the Calais migrant camp.

Allen and Robinson's row seemed to reach an end on Monday, after the singer accused the activist of being a "racist, sexist bigot" unworthy of her attention.

The EDL founder had a final word on Tuesday morning, posting a photo the news of the Turkey attacker's identity being revealed by police, writing only: "So he was a migrant @lilyallen".
