Here at Peak FM we want you to be BikeSafe over the coming months - thats why we're spreading the word that motorcyclists can enrol on BikeSafe workshops for just £39 thanks to the road safety partnership.
BikeSafe was devised by police motorcyclists and is run by our approved assessors. The workshop consists of a classroom session where riders will learn safe riding techniques and a two-hour assessed ride.
Our BikeSafe assessors provide candidates with advice about how to improve and may recommend an advanced riding qualification.
WHERE IS DERBYSHIRE BIKE SAFE HELD?
Derbyshire BikeSafe is run from Derbyshire police's headquarters in Ripley.

WHEN DO I NEED TO PAY?
You will need to pay when you book.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
You must bring the following documents to your classroom session:•your licence
•your insurance policy
•your MOT certificate (if your bike is more than three years old)
If you don't bring your documents along to your classroom session, you will be
unable to do your assessed ride. On the day of your assessed ride, you must
bring your motorcycle and suitable riding gear.
CAN I BRING MY PILLION PASSENGER ON THE COURSE WITH ME?
Yes – you can bring your passenger along for an extra £20. We know
passenger affects the way your bike handles so it’s useful for us to see
you riding with them and for them to hear what we say in the

Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership exists to reduce road deaths and injuries. Members include Derbyshire County Council, Derby City Council, Derbyshire police, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, the Highways Agency, NHS Derbyshire County, NHS Derby City and Peak District National Park Authority.

Derbyshire BikeSafe consists of a classroom session where riders will discuss safe riding techniques and a two-hour assessed ride.
These take place on Sundays (9.30am and 4.30pm) and cover a range of topics including:
•correct use of gears
The national BikeSafe DVD will be used throughout the session. It uses computer-simulated rides to show motorcyclists how to stay safe on the roads.
TWO HOUR ASSESSED RIDE
This gives you the opportunity to put what you have learned so far into practice.
You can expect to cover up to 60 miles during your assessed ride. Your assessor will be particularly interested in how well you control your bike and how you react to the road conditions.
At the end of your ride, your assessor will give you advice about how to improve and may recommend an advanced riding qualification.
