Day 2 – Tuesday 12th November 2013
Yesterday was my second day as One to One Support Service’s newest apprentice!
I learned all about their recruitment process, how they market their business and met a few of the guys that work there, as well as what they do. The first thing that strikes you when you walk into the building is just how motivated and happy a working environment it is. Everyone there is driven to a common goal, which is making people’s lives better. The job satisfaction the guys get in return for their hard work is extraordinary. Melanie (the boss) gives everyone the opportunity to progress in their chosen field as well as giving them the skills to do their jobs effectively. In fact, so effectively that One to One was awarded the prestigious “Investors in People Gold Award” on their first attempt.
If a career as a carer is something you’re mulling over in your mind but you’re not sure you would qualify, you can easily have a chat with the guys at One to One and they’ll be able to give you some advice as well as an application form. Don’t worry if you don’t have experience as they have a comprehensive training programme to give you the tools that you need to become a carer and make a real difference in someone’s life.
They are holding a recruitment event at Vicar Lane this Saturday 16th November, so you can have a chat with them and see if it would be something you would be interested in.
Today I’m going to be meeting some of One to One’s service users and see first hand the difference that their support gives them. Check back here tomorrow and go online to see how it goes!
